SPLL All Stars finishes first tournament of the summer

South Pasadena Little League All Star teams spent their first three weeks of summer practicing and competing in the annual District 18 tournament. While all of the teams fought hard, some teams came up short and others will be moving on to the sectional tournament.

After losing by ten runs in their first game, the 7-8 year old South Pas All Stars rebounded with a much stronger second performance. Although the team ultimately lost 15-14 on Monday, June 26, South Pas improved hitting from its first game. After losing its first two games in a double elimination tournament, this young team will have to wait till next year for its next chance.

The 9-10 All Star team was eliminated on Wednesday, June 28, losing 10-9 in its tournament game. South Pas suffered a second consecutive one run loss, falling just short in both games.

South Pasadena cruised to a championship win in the 11 year old division. South Pas completed a perfect three game run, winning by an astoundingly wide margin of 38-0. Home Runs were flying out of the park all night on Thursday, June 29.

The 12 year old South Pasadena All Star team had its championship dreams cut short after being eliminated by a score of 6-2. A talented LA little league team handed South Pas it’s 2nd loss on Monday, June 26.

The 13-14 year old South Pasadena team captured the division title over LA little league on Thursday, June 29. South Pasadena’s effective pitching and defense led them to a 4-2 victory. South Pas hopes to continue its undefeated run in the sectional tournament which starts on Friday, July 14.
