South Pasadena High School’s girls’ varsity tennis team played their fourth league game this Tuesday at home against La Cañada. The girls easily handled the Spartans, emerging victorious with a score of 13-5. With this win, the team’s league record improves to an impressive 3-1.

“We concentrated our forces in doubles,” senior Jennifer Wu said. “We had tough players who were extremely focused on playing their best games in singles.”

The girls were able to win five of nine singles sets, and eight of nine doubles matches. The team’s season has been outstanding so far, with big wins over league rivals Temple City, Monrovia, and now La Cañada.

“This is a very exciting start,” Wu said. “We have a good blend of fresh talent and experienced players, and we’re looking forward to the team advancing to CIF.”

The team’s next match will be next Tuesday at Blair, where they hope to extend their winning streak to three games in a row.
