Girls’ golf completes seventh straight undefeated season

The South Pasadena varsity girls’ golf team had completed their seventh straight undefeated season by defeating Gabrielino High School on Thursday in a match at Almansor Golf Course by score of 207 – 233. They finish their season with a overall record of 13-0 and league record 7-0.

Leading the team to victory was senior captain Katie Rosenberg, who scored a 36. Senior captains Amy Chong and Alyssa Carlos added on with scores of 44 and 42, respectively. Sophomore Caitlyn Yamashita scored a 41, while junior Christine Abbott tallied a 43.

“Our team wants to do better every game and thrives for the best,”  Chong said, describing her elation after completing the historic season. “We knew we had tough competition with Gabrielino and we tried to score the best we could to maintain the undefeated league title, and we did!”

South Pasadena was the team to beat this season. Their quality of play on the courses this season lead to consistent victories.

While the Tigers seemed to be a dominant team in the regular season, CIF is a whole different game, and the Tigers will meet a whole new level of competition for the top spot. Despite this, the Tigers are prepared for the challenges that await them, are are looking to go deep into playoffs.

The team will begin contention for the CIF crown on Thursday, October 21, where they will take on all of the other schools in the Montview League.
