Boys’ golf falls to La Cañada

Boys’ golf was unable to beat La Cañada in its match on Thursday, April 13. The boys fell to the Spartans on the Almansor Golf Course with a score of 199-182.

The team members played well despite the strong opposition from La Cañada. Sophomore Josh Ramos scored a 33, staying consistent with his impressively low stroke counts. Sophomore Daniel Sim followed with a 38. Close behind was senior Elliot Lee who scored a 40. Senior Matthew Wright and sophomore Jason Gomez both brought in scores of 44. Junior Sidney Luna-Long closed out the match bringing in a score of 47.

The Tigers put up a good fight considering that La Cañada is one of South Pas’ toughest opponents. The team managed to score below 200 strokes, an impressive feat for the team. Earlier in the season, the Tigers suffered a loss to La Cañada by a score of 220-207. South Pas lost by a larger margin in the previous match despite the lower stroke count. Still, the team has showed consistent improvement from last season seeing that league record currently sits at 3-2.

“I think we played the best we could’ve,” said Lee. “We can only improve by taking the time to practice more.”

The Tigers play their next match against Monrovia on Tuesday, April 18 on the Eaton Canyon Golf Course.
