Swimming overtakes Blair in Dominant Fashion

The boys and girls’ swim team demolished Blair High School on Thursday, April 28 at home. The team now has momentum on their side and is looking to make a strong run in the Rio Hondo League Prelims.

The boys’ swimmers performed well and outscored Blair by 78 points. Freshman Jaden Mullin earned first in the 100 Butterfly. Senior William Lau took the top spot in the 200 Individual Medley. Junior Jacob Mullin added to the Tigers’ large lead by taking first in the 50 Freestyle. Jacob Mullin gave the Tigers insurance getting the top spot in the 100 Breaststroke.

The girls also were victorious across the board. Senior Jocelyn Jo swam unopposed in the 500 Freestyle and earned first by default. Senior Laura Mendenhall earned first place in both the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Freestyle. For many of the competitions, Blair had no swimmers and South Pas won by default.

“The team has done exceptionally well against tough opponents this season,” junior Jacob Mullin said, “We expect the team to bounce of this victory and have stellar performances at the Rio Hondo League Championships.”

The team’s next contest is the Rio Hondo League Prelims on Wednesday, May 4 at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center.
