ASB announced plans for renovations to the Tiger Patio during a pep rally at lunch on Friday, November 13. The first phase of the project is set to be completed by the end of Thanksgiving break.

The $166,575 project is set to include seven new trees, new concrete benches, decomposed granite, and artificial turf. The new Tiger Patio will have a style similar to the recently upgraded middle school quad and will be done by the same company, EasyTurf.

“Improvement of aesthetic and function,” are the two emphasized points of the renovation as Assistant Superintendent Dave Lubs stated.

The renewal of the patio was first proposed two years ago by South Pasadena students with the intention of providing more shade across the Tiger Patio. The original proposal proved to be overly complicated and too costly, so the plans for the renovation were delayed. Throughout the past couple of years, the renovation plans have gone under revision, and are now finally set in motion to be complete by sometime during December.
