The girls’ varsity tennis team was unsuccessful against a surging San Marino Titans squad on Tuesday, October 6, at home by a score of 1-17. Historically, San Marino has been a tough opponent and today was no exception.

Sophomore team captain Molly Round fell by a score of 4-6 in her first game to San Marino’s strongest singles player. In her second game, Round gained momentum back and dominated her opponent with strong shots and well placed finishes. Round would finish off rallies with smash hits to obliterate her opponent. However, in her final game she fell by a score of 2-6.

The remainder of the team did not fare so well as no one was able to win a game. The team hopes to use this match as a learning experience for the remainder of the season.

“We need to communicate better in our next games,” junior Anya Nicolaides said, “The team also needs to improve how we work together and complaining less.”

The Tigers will hope to have more success on Thursday, October 8, when they play Monrovia at home.
