Incoming Commissioner of Spirit Gabby Marquez had her debut in her first pep rally of the year on Friday, May 22. Incumbent Commissioner Samantha Lee stepped down after her final rally, Crossover, on Friday, May 1, this performance was the first with Marquez and the newly selected pep members.

“Seeing all the faces there and people supporting pep was amazing but also really nerve-racking,” Marquez said. “After that pep rally, I didn’t realize how many people came out to support us, I was very thankful for that.”

Varsity and JV Song came together to kick off the rally with leaps, turns, and spins blended with fresh hip hop moves. JV Yell followed up with a routine to Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be.” Flags performed a routine with Bruno Mars’ “Marry You” and varsity Yell continued the momentum with their carefully structured jumps and formations.

To round out the spirit-filled event the mascots took to the stage and showcased their own comedic, yet well-rehearsed, routine supported by a mixture of different songs, from hip hop to country.

After the successful pep rally, Marquez hopes to lead Pep to improve consistently throughout the year.

“I’ll make sure to have many practices to not only look good in front of the student body but to feel good,” Marquez said. “I will make sure that everyone is always committed and dedicated to spreading spirit and supporting everyone at school.”

Pep will hold summer practices with the new squad to prepare themselves for the sports seasons in the upcoming academic year.
