Former SPMS teacher Cynthia Rogers passes away

South Pasadena Middle School science teacher Cynthia Rogers, also known as Cindy, passed away on Saturday, May 16 from ovarian cancer.

Students and teachers attended a service for Rogers at Christian Assembly in Eagle Rock on Friday May 22.

“It was nice seeing everyone come together. They were all really caring and supportive,” one student said

Rogers began her teaching career at the high school and was part of the middle school staff for more than 20 years. This year, she taught sixth grade Earth Science at the middle school until the end of the first quarter.

“She was a wonderful teacher, loved by all her students and we will miss her greatly. Her commitment to students and love for learning has touched us all,” principal David Kubela said in an email to the SPUSD community.
