In preparation for reconstruction of the deck, the South Pasadena High School pool closed on Friday, May 15. Draining started on Saturday, May 16.  The event was opened to the community as they were invited to ‘take a bucket’ in efforts to save water. The construction company, Nadar Inc., came on the following Monday to begin work.

The recreational swim lesson program and the club swim team, Sea Tigers, will be disrupted by the reconstruction of the deck, the installation of a new drainage system, re-tiling work, and the addition of new starting blocks.

Administration claims that the pool has been due for maintenance for several years but due to financial constraints, reconstruction was not possible until now.

Construction is expected to be completed by June 26, with the usual recreational swimming lessons beginning on July 6.
