The girls’ varsity tennis team’s three game winning streak was snapped today, as they were defeated by the San Marino Titans 14-4. The team wasn’t able to win any singles sets, and won only four out of nine doubles sets.

Despite the loss, the team’s league record remains a solid 4-2. The girls are currently second in the Rio Hondo League behind San Marino, and they need only one more win to clinch a CIF berth.

“I am very confident in our team making CIF,” sophomore Anya Nicolaides said, “We’ve been doing our best to qualify, and I’m very excited about it.”

The girls’ next match is this Thursday, October 22 against Monrovia, a team whom they’ve already beaten 17-1. If they win, the team will clinch their first CIF berth in seven years.
