South Pasadena High School employee Ms Ana Nicholson passed away of cancer on Tuesday, April 5.

“I believe I speak for all staff when I say that we have lost a most positive and friendly person who, even while in treatment, remained upbeat and continually focused her concern and care on others,” Principal Ms Janet Anderson said.

Nicholson served at SPHS since 2002 and was an instructional assistant in the Special Education department at the time of her passing. She was known by her colleagues for her sense of humor and positivity.

“Ana’s personality infused a positive energy to each day.  She was compassionate, optimistic, and always cheerful,” Special Education Department Chair Mr. David Baughman said. “She had a great sense of humor, even during her battle with cancer.”

Nicholson had previously been diagnosed with cancer in 2012 and was re-diagnosed earlier in the 2015-2016 school year.

“She was lovely and gracious, supportive and kind, and she will be sorely missed at SPHS and in the community,” Anderson said.
