The softball team suffered a tough 9-0 loss at home against La Cañada on Wednesday, March 26. With this loss the Tigers stand at 1-2 in league and 5-3 overall.

The game started off poorly for South Pas, with the hard-hitting Spartans making three runs in the first inning and four in the second to take an early 7-0 lead. Though the Tigers’ defense recovered for the next two innings, La Cañada took advantage of errors in the fifth to bring home another two runs and put the score at 9-0.

Meanwhile, South Pas struggled to get on base as La Cañada pitcher Amanda Laughon led the Spartans’ consistent defense from the mound. Sophomores Katherine Conte and Emily Swanson as well as junior Avery Douglas were among the few Tigers to get a hit, but the team’s efforts fell short of scoring. The final two innings finished scoreless for both sides.

“Today was just a lot of errors from everyone,” Swanson said. “So I think were all pretty fired up to win. So hopefully we can use that drive in our next game.”

South Pasadena will try to get back on track with an away game against Temple City on Wednesday, April 8.
