The SPHS Drama Department’s Fall play “Metamorphoses” placed among the top three high school productions in LA County by the California Educational Theatre Association (CETA) at the annual Fall Play Festival on Dec. 10, 2019. The CETA adjudicates Fall productions throughout Southern California and recognized the SPHS production’s cast and crew.

Originally running four shows in November, the SPHS Drama Department utilized new features such as a pool of water where actors performed modern renditions of classic Greek myths.

The cast and crew will reprise a short excerpt of their performance at the CETA High School Theatre Festival at Fullerton Union High School from Jan. 18 to Jan. 20. The weekend will also host a variety of events including workshops led by industry professionals, adjudicated scene and monologue competition, and scholarship opportunities.

“The whole cast and crew really took the time to get to know their parts and work on preparation, which ended up paying off in the best way possible,” senior Sydney Davis-Denny said. “None of us could’ve imagined that we would end up having an opportunity like this, but we’re extremely grateful for this new experience to come.”
