Golf’s win over Azusa keeps undefeated streak alive

The South Pasadena High School varsity girl’s golf team outplayed Azusa High School for the second straight time this season, beating the Aztecs 216- 273. With this victory their overall record improves to 11-0 and 6-0 in league.

Senior captain Katie Rosenberg led the team with another terrific outing, shooting a 37, with junior Christine Abbott following behind with a score of 43. Sophomore Emily Swanson and senior captain Amy Chong were right behind, with scores of 44 and 45 respectively. Sophomore Caitlyn Yamashita rounded off the team, hitting a 47. to bring the team total to 216. The Tigers are now preparing to finish farther in CIF than in the past several years. Chong talks about their new approach towards the CIF tournament.

“Our team worked hard for the past couple of years to to maintain the [league] title and I think our team deserves to be recognized for all the hard work we put into golf,” Chong said. “As a senior, It’s my goal to leave the team knowing that we are fully capable of placing [among] the top five teams [in] CIF.”

The Tigers will face off next against Alhambra High School Tuesday, October 14.
