The girls’ golf team extended their preseason winning streak to four games on Tuesday, September 4, defeating Webb High School 207-261. Despite having only five of the eleven players active, the Tigers easily cruised to a victory.

Freshman Maya Turun continued her outstanding preseason with 36 strokes, leading the team with the lowest score for the second time. Junior captain Victoria Tskvitichvili ended with a score of 39, while freshman Cassy Huang finished with an impressive 41 strokes. Fellow freshman Audrey Biggar shot for a score of 47 and sophomore Katherine Anthony rounded out the team with a score of 44.

“Shooting a 41 on a course I’ve never played [on] before is shocking,” Huang said. “I played today with a lot of leg pains, but hopefully by the next match I’ll be 100% and be getting lower scores.”

With four consecutive wins, the Tigers are in top form and ready to compete for the league championship. South Pasadena will conclude their preseason with a rematch against Crescenta Valley on Thursday, September 6. When they last faced off, the girls’ golf team defeated the Falcons 229-277. The Tigers will look to finish the preseason undefeated and carry that momentum into their first league match against La Cañada on Tuesday, September 11 on the Almansor Golf Course.
