The girls’ golf team put together an incredible performance on Thursday, August 30, crushing the Polytechnic Panthers 204-243. With an average of 40.8 strokes, the low scores across the board drove the team to a third straight preseason victory.

Freshman Lauren Calderon had a standout performance, shooting 35 strokes, one under par. As expected, junior co-captain Victoria Tskvitichvili was also brilliant, with a score of 37.

Calderon’s fellow freshmen Maya Turun, Cassie Huang, and Audrey Biggar scored 40, 45, and 49 strokes, respectively. Junior co-captain Lindsey Biggar also produced a strong showing with a score of 42. Sophomores Katherine Anthony and Christine Mao chipped in, scoring 50 and 61.

With four freshmen shooting below 46 strokes, not only have the newcomers proved to be vital to the team’s success, but they have earned the respect of their older teammates.

“The freshmen are such a great addition to our team. They are so sweet and [they] perfectly fit the vibe of our team.” Anthony said. “They have so much potential and are ready to shine!”

With everyone on the same page and ready to work together, the Tigers head into the second half of the preseason hoping to remain undefeated. The team will travel to La Verne next Tuesday, September 4 to compete against Webb High School on the Marshall Canyon Golf Course.
