Girls golf dominates in its first Rio Hondo League match against Gabrielino, winning 200-218 on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
Senior captain Victoria Tskvitichvili paved the way for a Tiger victory with an impressive 36 strokes. Sophomores Lauren Calderon and Maya Turun were close behind, each shooting for only 37 strokes. The other three players, junior Katherine Anthony and sophomores Cassy Huang and Audrey Biggar all held records in the 40s, allowing the team a comfortable win.
“Winning our first league match is great motivation for the rest of the season,” Turun said. “We can definitely beat San Marino if we keep this up.”
Girls golf will look to continue its success with a game against La Cañada on Thursday, Sept. 19.
