Former SPHS student killed in Seattle crane collapse

Former South Pasadena resident Sarah Wong was among the four individuals who were killed when a construction crane in Seattle collapsed during disassembly Saturday, Apr. 27. Wong, a freshman at Seattle Pacific University (SPU), was identified as one of the victims on Sunday morning.

Wong attended SPHS through her freshman year and graduated from Futures Academy in 2018. The SPU freshman was in a car with another person who escaped unharmed when the crane collapsed, according to details reported by the Seattle Times.

Wong attended SPUSD schools from kindergarten to part-way through high school. During her time at SPHS, Wong was involved with the track and field team, and was pursuing a degree in nursing at SPU.
