Badminton defeats Mayfield in lopsided match

Coed badminton continued to hold steadfast to its reputation as one of the most triumphant teams on campus, securing a 19-2 victory over Mayfield on Wednesday, March 13. This marks the team’s third league victory this season and raises its overall record to 3-0.

Juniors Charles Liu, Emily Choi, and Joan Choi, along with sophomore Jonathan Ng each contributed two victories to the Tiger’s overall score in their mixed doubles matches. Emily and Joan Choi, sophomore Matthew Tan, and freshman Ricky Luo added another four points with their singles wins. Senior Steven Wu and junior Jamilah Hah both dominated their mixed doubles break point round.

Girls’ doubles senior Lena Kushigemachi, juniors Erin Wang and Hah, and sophomores Katherine Li, Kimberly Hsueh, and Elisa Jeon emerged triumphant from their matches, which tallied another three points for the Tigers. Boys’ doubles displayed their dominance on the court as well. Senior William Yip and sophomore Shane Yu won both their matches, while senior Kevin Xu and freshman Chris Liu ended their two sets with a narrow wins. Also doubles players, Wu, junior Stanton Ho, and sophomores Andrew Cheung and Justin Rogando, contributed another two points to the Tiger’s final score, ending the game with a score of 19-2.

The Tigers will hope to continue their winning streak as they face off against Mark Keppel this upcoming Monday, March 18.
