Badminton blows by rival Titans

Following their success against San Gabriel, the spirited SPHS coed badminton team carried on their momentum into their second league game of the season against San Marino.The Tigers avenged last season’s loss against the Titans, as they showcased their prowess in another decisive 16-5 victory.

Once again, mixed doubles teams juniors Charles Liu and Emily Choi, and junior Joan Choi and sophomore Jonathan Ng, greatly contributed to the team’s overall score, winning three out of a total of four matches. Breakpoint mixed doubles partners senior Steven Wu and junior Jamilah Hah added another victory through their combination of smashes and nets against the Titans.

Boys singles players Liu and Ng emerged triumphant in each of their two matches, as well as girls singles Emily and Joan Choi. From the doubles matches, Hah, Wu, and sophomores Kimberly Hsueh, Matthew Tan, Shane Yu, and Andrew Cheung added another five points to the team’s final score of 16.

Badminton’s next game will be on Wednesday, March 13, at Mayfield as they hope to continue their success.
